This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
It's the first week of school, and the Class of 2028 is ready to go! But what to do with our pencils? Where do I put my crayons? How do I access my notebooks? The chair pockets in our classroom will contribute to our easy supply sort system!
My students come from a range of backgrounds.
It's their diverse personalities and learning styles that keep our classroom unique. As a Title 1 school, 95% of my students receive free or reduced price lunch, and only 5 out of my 20 students will be able to afford school supplies this year. Their brilliance shouldn't be dimmed by their access to resources or learning tools.
My Project
Using chair pockets rather than group supplies will teach my kids the value of responsibility and ownership. I spent 4 hours at school ensuring my students all had the supplies they needed, labeled, and sharpening all 250 of their pencils. Now we just need the last item for our system to work: chair pockets will minimize disruptive movement and allow my kids to take responsibility for their individual items.
Your donation to our project will empower my students beyond 2nd grade by teaching them valuable life skills!
Help our class of 2028 as we learn to go to and through college! Help create a lasting impact on our classroom by cultivating the ideal learning environment for our 2nd grade students.
