I have a class full of wonderful, multi-cultural, and inspiring second graders. They’re helpful, eager to learn, and hard working. They absolutely love engaging, hands-on, and challenging projects. They truly deserve the best education possible.
My students live in areas where families are struggling to find employment and opportunity.
Our school is located in Elkhart, Indiana. My students’ ability to come to school each day with smiling faces despite these hardships at home, is truly inspirational. I’m lucky to have them.
Our school is a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) certified based learning environment. At times our resources are limited; however, I still want to be able to give the education and experiences that my class deserves. I want to be able to provide resources, support, and opportunities so my students can reach their fullest potential in the classroom.
My Project
These storage bins and materials will help my class store and organize their reading and writing materials. Students will be able to keep their own work and books in their own storage bins, where they will use them daily during reading groups and lessons. The foldable storage cubes, book bins, and bookshelf will be for classroom books. The caddies will be used for table group organization and storage of materials.
Organization in a classroom is extremely important.
It helps transitions and lessons run smoothly and efficiently. When my students switch for reading groups and centers, they can just grab their book bins and begin. Not only will it keep my students organized, it will also teach them responsibility.
I have seen firsthand how these materials are necessary in a primary classroom! It truly makes things easier and less cluttered.
