Our class is curious, excited about learning, and loves anything hands-on! The children in my class began their education the year COVID hit our public schools. Their kindergarten year was cut short, and they have been deprived of a normal learning environment ever since. These children are resilient; however, their educational experience so far has definitely impacted their learning. Our needs range from educational deficits in reading and math, to social and behavioral deficits, which include how to behave in a classroom for 6 hours with peers and adults. Anything I can provide them in our second grade classroom to help them overcome these challenges will ensure greater success for them now as well as in years to come.
My Project
Students will be able to utilize our ChromeBooks, work on building up those handwriting muscles, and get scientific with these supplies! Students use headphones for listening to books, as well as working on math and phonics skills. With so much online learning, we've found their little hands need some extra help with handwriting! The grips and pencils, as well as the theraputty, will build up their fine motor skills. We are also working on getting excited about science! This is a great time for kids to get hands-on time with STEM activities and experiments that follow our curriculum.
