My Students
Hi! My name is Claudia Gallardo. This is my second year teaching and I could not be more inspired each day that I come to school. As a new teacher, I want to ensure I am making their second grade experience one they will remember. I challenge myself to think outside of the box and come up with different ways that I can make learning more meaningful for my students.
In my classroom, you will see students that are creative, ingenious, and inquisitive.
They like to move, read and ask curious questions. They come to school every day and are looking forward to the day ahead of them. In my classroom, I focus on instilling a lifelong learner mindset in them and I focus on motivating them to develop as learners. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hopeful to inspire them to continue on a path of academic excellence. My students come from such diverse backgrounds and they are excited to learn and perform at their best level.
My Project
Having the opportunity to read nonfiction books in our classroom will allow for different structures of learning. Funding these resources would show my students that nonfiction reading is not only an important life skill but is also exciting! My students are curious and always excited to learn about something new. From wild animals, to biographies and more. These nonfiction topics will create a foundation for learning to read and research informational texts in all subjects from the earliest grades. To continue, nonfiction reading will also help to teach my students how to develop more complex thinking.
In addition, I am requesting these types of nonfiction books because my students will able to engage in book club discussions to increase their passion for nonfiction learning.
Giving my students an opportunity to talk about their learning is key for meaningful conversations and engagement, so this project will help greatly in our classroom!
