My Students

My second graders are excited to attend school each day, passionate about learning, joyful, and spirited. They love hands-on, authentic learning experiences.

Students are extremely supportive of one another and thrive in a classroom setting when a sense of community and teamwork is in place.

My students come from a variety of diverse, backgrounds and experiences.

Second grade is powerful milestone year for students in all areas such as literacy, math, social and emotional learning, as well as positive feelings of self-worth!

My Project

Our class meets daily at a large area rug several times a day to receive instruction and delight in new learning experiences. We desperately need a new rug as our current rug is worn, faded, and unraveling!

This meeting area rug is the "hub" of our classroom!

Students participate in interactive learning activities using our Smart board conveniently displayed near the area rug. Gathering at the meeting area builds a sense of community as well. Together we work to solve problems, discuss important events, and share students' accomplishments, goals, and dreams. We also work at the rug independently in small groups to participate in learning tasks. This beautiful area is welcoming and the necessity for a bright, comfortable group gathering area is paramount!
