My class is full of wonderful students eager to take on the world. The students in my fifth grade class love to learn and put forth their best effort. Inside the classroom they are able to come and feel safe. They have a place where they can escape from the challenges they face at home and in their community. Attending a school in a low income school area, some of their educational needs are not met because of lack of resources due to budget cuts. In school they are able to build positive relationships that will help them to be students that work together and appreciate the differences of others.
Out with the old in with the new. Let's be able to focus on learning with seats that will allow students to move without moving around the room. Flexible seating is a way to allow students a way to focus in class by being comfortable in their seats. Sitting for seven hours in a hard seat makes it very hard for anyone to focus. Most adults are able to sit in comfortable seats when they are at work. So, why not allow students to do the same.
By getting these two options for seating in class, students can select the level of comfort that want to learn.
A rug will allow students to lay on pillows to read a book do a math problem or any other classwork assigned to them. The wobble stools will allow students to select an area in the classroom they would like to learn in. The wobble chairs will be great with students will learning challenges that need to move. This way they can move and not stop their learning, but be more successful.
