Help me give my students flexible seating with Rio Gear My Pod Seats, Saucer Chairs, yoga balls, and other seating options to increase students engagement in the classroom.
I have wonderfully kind and respectful students. They work very hard, and I have seen them do a lot of positive things this year. All of my students are talented and gifted in different ways. This makes for a wonderful classroom community.
Some are great readers, others are fantastic at math, and brilliant artists.
This year they have learned so much, and are awesome communicators. We have been working on civilized debates, problems solving, and STEM. Our sixth grade class has a Harry Potter club. They have worked on break out in teams. They even designed their own zoo enclosure for different animals. They truly have done a lot since August, and I am very proud of all of them.
In addition my students enjoy helping others. Whether it is helping their kinderbuddies in kindergarten write letters to Santa, or going to see if teachers in the building need help. They always want to know if anybody needs help, and they do it.
My Project
It makes sense the being comfortable makes learning easier. Gone are the days of sitting and staying in a desk in rows all year long. Students can walk in and find a place where they want to sit. They can sit on the floor on a stadium pod, on a yoga ball, sitting on a wobble seat on a chair, a regular chair, or even sitting in a saucer style seat. Flexible seating helps students find a spot in the room, where they feel comfortable, and ready to learn. But these items are the piece my students' classroom is missing.

The site Psychology Today talks about why flex seating helps students hitting points such as classroom ownership and the chance to focus on their work away from noise or distraction of others. More then that, it also provided opportunities for students to discuss their learning and collaborate with their classmates.
The items I have picked will help my students have more control in their learning environment. We have a high stools and one tall table already, and tables that are two tables lowered to floor. But, students either just sit on the floor or regular chairs if they are not at one of high stools. I believe the more choice my students have in their classroom, makes being ready to learn easier.
