Help me give my students an ability to pay attention and learn in a group setting by giving them a defined place to sit and attend during group instruction.
Our preschool classroom is filled with diverse learners from all over the world. Our small, quaint school serves 90 students ranging in ages from three to five years old. Many of them are English Language learners. Our school is located in a low-income, high-risk area.
Our students continuously overcome obstacles thrown at them each and every day, and still always surprise me with their eagerness and readiness to learn.
They come to school each day with a smile, a hug, and a laugh.
We feel very lucky to be teaching these students, and even luckier that we can experience everything that they end up teaching us!
My Project
It’s no secret- we all know three and four year old children have busy busy bodies! It can be really hard for this age group to sit all together on a carpet and be attentive to a whole group lesson. However, whole group/circle time is one of the most important learning times during our school day!
If each child had access to their own individual chair cube, they would not have to worry about space or boundaries and could focus on what is being taught.
We recognize these chairs are pricey, but they will last for years and years to come. So many students will end up benefitting from this project.
