We are a small school located in a rural area outside of Sacramento. We have a large English Learner population and many of our students are on free and reduced lunch. Most of our students don't live in the town where our school is located, but live in West Sacramento and the Rio Vista school district attendance zones.
We have formed partnerships with local farms in the area.
We focus on project-based learning and outdoor education. Our school culture promotes a positive discipline model where students' voices are encouraged and celebrated. Our teachers create authentic, engaging lessons that are focused around 21st century skills! We believe that all children deserve to be excited to come to school because they know that the teachers and staff support and care about them.
Giving my students options in flexible seating helps them focus and therefore learn better. We have a very popular standing table that needs stools that the students can use if they need to take a seat. The stools need to be tall enough that they can still reach the table if needed.
Flexible seating in the classroom helps my most 'fragile' students the most by providing them with ways to wiggle and move while learning and the ability to do it without distracting others.
Many students want to stand and work, but they need a way to sit and take a break without sitting too low.
