My favorite part about teaching and seeing how very different every single student is! Then, how do we expect them to all do the same thing the same way? My goal for my kids is to be able to learn the way they need to learn. In order to be successful, they need an environment that makes them feel safe and comfortable!
Students love to pick their own spot to sit!
They learn how to make a good choice so they can work successfully. I have two classes that use the seating in my room. They all choose a different spot that makes them comfortable. They work independently, with partners and in small groups all the time. Their favorite spot for book club is usually the floor!
My Project
I have been using flexible seating in my classroom for three years now. The kids love it! They work where they are comfortable which helps them to be so successful. Every year I look to add new ways for them to work independently. Kids love floor seating, it makes them feel more at home.
Giving students the chance to pick their seat empowers them!
They learn how to make the right choices. Having a variety of places for them to sit allows them to interact with one another. We have lots of donated furniture in our classroom! My mom's kitchen chairs, our librarian's mom's table. Our room has a home-like feel that allows students to feel comfortable. Thanks so much for your support!!
