My students are incredible, eager, excited, little humans. They come with a variety of backgrounds and learning styles. We have a wide range of parental support and involvement. In our classroom, We are not only focused on growing academically, but socially and emotionally as well. Our classroom is a safe place for kids to learn, try, fail, succeed, grow, and take risks. I want my students to leave this school year having become kinder, patient, and more understanding of the world around them.
My Project
With an increase in screen time, my kiddos' outdoor time seems to be decreasing. Yet, we expect them to sit at desks for hours to work. I am hoping to bring flexible seating in my classroom. Seating options like the wobble cushions and balls provide opportunities to move the body while students work. The bouncy bands will let students sitting in traditional chairs and desks fidget with their legs and feet while staying on task. It also provides choice, which will help bring up engagement. We know the more engaged we are, the better we remember what we are doing. It is a win-win for everyone in the classroom. With the increase of hands-on lessons paired with flexible seating options, my classroom will be full of eager learners!
