Seating to collaborate and cheer on each other's successes!
My students need options to sit collaboratively. We desperately need a rug to sit together during read-alouds, when students showcase their writing successes, and to lay comfortably when reading or writing.
I have an upcoming class of 40 eager, energetic, and independent students. These sweet kids are growing up in the age of 'flexible seating.' While I fully support having choice, there are times we need to come together in one comfortable spot to best hear out the creative and unique ideas of others as well as have a time to listen to me read to gain insight into what fluent reading and critical thinking sounds like. I cannot wait for you to meet this amazing class through our thanks and gratitude for your generosity.
My Project
My sweet kiddos need a space to sit together to engage in read-alouds, critical thinking of texts, and to celebrate each other's successes. Currently, I do not have a rug of any kind in my room for the class to come together. I have searched for a rug that is CHEAPER than most, durable, and will hide stains to ensure its use for years of students to come.
We use the carpet as a time to better understand what a fluent reader sounds like, to best listen to other's unique and creative ideas about texts, as well as a time for writer's to showcase their success and help teach their peers what a good writing piece can look like.
We are also in need of 6 stools to work in small groups. These stools will mainly be used when working with me on specific skills related to that group's current needs. However, students will also be able to use the stools when working independently. These are especially helpful for students who better concentrate away from the distractions of sitting in a traditional group setting during independent work. They now have the option to go to the back table- promoting self-help skills, learning about themselves and how they learn best, and gaining confidence by being able to experience more success.
