Help me give my students some options for flexible seating in our classroom. My students have shown that they need choices for seating in order to better focus and decrease distractions to their learning.

My Students

Third grade is such an important time for students cognitively, developmentally, and emotionally. My students this year are creative, funny, outgoing, and eager to learn. They come from a variety of backgrounds, with a wide range of interests, and experiences. My job has been to take all these things and bring them together to build great relationships and foster an atmosphere of learning at the highest possible levels to achieve success.

My students struggle, learn, fail, succeed, and shine throughout each day, and seeing them go through each of these steps makes what I do so rewarding.

Each year, I look forward to building relationships with and reaching my students in new and exciting ways. Through hands-on work, collaborative experiments, STEM activities, and daily classroom lessons, it is my goal to help each of them set goals and blow them away as they grow this year.

My Project

Over the first few months of school I have learned a lot about my new third grade learners. Many of my students are in constant motion, tipping (and often falling out of) their chairs, standing, pacing, bouncing, etc. throughout our learning time.

Flexible seating will allow my learners to choose the way their brain will operate best on a day to day basis.

We currently have some DIY flexible seating choices such as; crates, some old pillows, and deflated bean bags. These newer updated choices will allow even greater flexibility for my students to learn and grow in a way that best supports their individual needs.
