My Students

My students are hard working and goal oriented. They are on various levels within academic skills and achievements. My classroom is special needs. The students have a wide range of ever changing abilities. Students within the classroom are often off task and need redirecting and transitioning to stay focused. We are a center based classroom that change activities every 20 minutes. Students enjoy sitting on the floor and using bean bags. By offering new seating through the donors choose program, will allow more choices and excitement for learning within the classroom.

My Project

Giving my students an alternative to sitting at a desk or table will allow more attention to task, comfort, and ownership of their learning. The standing desk will allow students to stand while they complete tasks. The floor seating will supply a positive choice to do reading centers. Students enjoy having choices within the classroom. Choosing where they will start their day of learning will supply ownership for all students. We start our day with a recap of the prior day and the students evening at home through journal writing. The standing desk and floor seating will make my students excited to begin their day.
