This is my 26th year teaching in the public school system. I always strive to create a classroom that welcomes, inspires, and encourages all.
This year I will have 21 enthusiastic second graders.
Our group is made up of many different needs including title one students and English language learners.
My students are kind, thoughtful learners who want to succeed. 7 and 8 year olds are active by nature and providing them with flexible seating options will allow them to have a say and control of their work space.
My Project
My goal is to create a classroom where my students are excited to enter and spend the day! Happier kids, healthier kids, better engagement, and better results. Kids can't sit still for 8 hours straight and we shouldn't expect them to. Flexible seating encourages collaboration and a sense of responsibility among students.
Flexible seating will give my students the ability to move, collaborate, communicate with their peers, and develop critical thinking skills.
Getting these wobble seats and rocking chairs for my classroom will give my students the ability to bounce, lean, twist, fidget, wobble, roll, stand, kneel, and sit to suit their needs. Having these comforts/needs met will allow us all to get down to business and achieve student success.
