The students in my classroom are curious about many topics. They love hands-on projects and being able to apply their knowledge in unconventional ways in the classroom. They have a great sense of humor and will often organize games to play as a class during indoor recess, instead of just playing with their close group of friends.
Curious, fun-loving, funny, hard-working, reading, math solving, caring and hands-on investigating, are all adjectives that I would use to describe my students.
I have a huge range of different levels of learners, yet they function wonderfully together as an entire class.
My Project
I have chosen a three seating options, along with tables to enhance the learning environment for my students. The wobble cushions, wobble stools and stability balls allow the students to still wiggle and work at the same time. These are great options for students that struggle with sitting in a traditional school chair.
Many of my students struggle with being able to sit in the "standard" chair in the classroom and they welcome the chance to sit somewhere else in the room when they are working independently or in small groups throughout the day.
You will find them laying on the floor, working cooperatively on the carpeted area with clipboards, sitting at the computer tables, making use of the kidney shaped table that we use for small group instruction and even working at my desk when they are able too. I'd like to continue to foster their creativity and curiosity while giving them options to be able to effectively work independently or cooperatively with others.
