My Students

My classroom is located in Maine and is currently funded by the Pre-K Expansion grant. We work closely with our families to create a community. Those that participate fall under certain income eligibility requirements, such as lower income.

It is our goal to provide a high quality education experience to best support our students.

Our school services a majority of families who have low income. This being said, the school provides free lunch and breakfast to all students. Every student has a different background that makes them unique. In being partners with these families we work towards children's growth both academically and socially.

My Project

Each child is unique which means not all children should be required to use the same type of seating. Currently we have regular chairs and one wobble cushion. This does not provide options for our students. We have noticed an increase in behaviors during whole group time. Children only have the choice of sitting in a chair or on the floor.

Pre-K is usually a child's first experience in a school setting.

They are not used to sitting and attending for periods of time. These seats will provide children with different seating options. The wobble seats and cushions will be used at circle times, small groups, meals, etc.
