My students are a part of a small, rural community separated from the advantages of larger cities. Over half of our student population are on the free/reduced lunch program and many attend the community Boys and Girls Club organization after school.
Despite their challenges, my students are energetically curious and wish to learn what they can about the world in which they live.
Completing a project based assignment with seating fitting their specific body type will help them discover answers to their questions and give them an opportunity to share that discovery with their peers.
My Project
There are a wide range of body types and sizes in a combination classroom, and these bodies have different needs for seating. A single source of seating for these various sized students is ineffective and detrimental to the learning opportunities students are challenged to accomplish.Flexible seating options help maintain focus and interest in whatever topic students are studying due to the comfort level of their bodies.
My students will benefit from healthy seating options by increasing stamina, maintaining control, and continuing focus in their academic and social endeavors.
Given healthy seating choices, students have an opportunity to exhibit longer self control.
