My students need to be comfortable and focused as they learn so I'd like to provide surf chairs as an option for flexible seating in my classroom.

My Students

This is my 20th year teaching and I love my job! The school where I teach is in southeast Michigan and we teach Kindergarten through 5th grade.

The kids I teach are kind, creative and intelligent.

They come to school with enthusiasm to learn! Our school is very diverse with over 35 languages spoken by our families. I am always on the look out for strategies to help kids learn and grow in their own unique ways. I'm excited for our upcoming new school year!

My Project

I like to provide different types of flexible seating for students in my classroom where they can be comfortable, focused and successful. Some students enjoy their desks, others prefer to stand or sit or even lay on the carpet while they read and work.

I have seen the excitement and enthusiasm that surf chairs bring as an optional seating choice in other classrooms I have visited.

This new concept - surf chairs - provide a comfortable seating option that takes up only a small amount of space. They stack and store neatly when not in use. Students will love taking turns sitting and working in these awesome chairs.
