I teach 6th-grade math and my students are amazing! They love to move around, fidget with things and are excited to learn. Math sometimes can be a struggle but I know my students will thrive this year! I'm always amazed at how students know what they need so they can focus. They want to! Sometimes they just need some options to befit their needs. I had fidget bands last year and unfortunately, they did not last to this year.
6th-grade students are full of energy, excitement, and creativity.
The students need a classroom that will help them keep that energy, excitement, and creativity and they will in my class.
I have several students who love to move around during class. They are great about not distracting others and still paying attention. These students work so hard to make sure they are getting their work done and paying attention.
My Project
My students love to learn about math. I always try and make sure my students are able to focus on the math material and make sure my classroom is welcoming for all of my students. This year I am creating this project so my students can have a table to work at for small group lessons and workshops.
My students love being able to move around and have options on where to sit.
One of the most coveted places are the desks with the fidget bands. Sadly most of my fidget bands from before have worn down and my students are in need of new ones. I am ordering 10 of these fidget bands which are sturdier and will last longer than the previous ones.
Students sometimes need options during class time which may even include the option to stand up while they learn. I am ordering standing desks in hopes that some of my students will be able to take notes while standing instead of having to lean over on their desks while they stand. This will help them stay focused by allowing them a comfortable place to stand and take notes at the same time.
