Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are a joyful bunch of kindergartners. They come to school each day eager to learn and achieve the goals they have set for themselves. They are becoming more and more independent and responsible every day.
Our class is made up of a diverse group, each individual making their special contribution to our classroom.
The students love the freedom of exploration and of learning through doing. They work together and support each other regularly. We are one big happy family!
My Project
Kindergartners learn and work best when they have the freedom to move around and be comfortable. Flexible options such as wobble stools, lap desks, or floor cushions allow students to choose the seating in which they will feel most at ease. Comfy kids are more ready to learn!
Choice within the classroom makes students leaders of their own learning.
I have seen my students as they make decisions for themselves and take ownership and pride in their own education. Whether working individually on reading or writing, or collaborating with their peers, my students not only enjoy, but often require their own place to be productive.
We would all love to have more choices available to us in our working classroom.
