My kindergarten students are just entering the first year of their long academic career. Providing them with the necessary resources to ease their transition into school is key. I want to allow them to learn the way they learn best: through movement, hands-on play, art, exploration and self-discovery.
My class is composed of a diverse set of learners with a variety of strengths and weaknesses; however, my students all have one thing in common: the desire to explore new concepts deeply, so they can best understand the world around them.
My Project
My students need this bookshelf/bench to help keep our classroom library organized and easily accessible. It is the perfect height for my Kindergarten students and will provide lots of storage for all of the books they love to read each day!
This bookshelf is also a bench which provides my students with a place to sit with a friend to read, work on writing activities, or even play games - all they have to do is choose an activity from the storage below!
Additional seating is always a bonus for any classroom. It will provide my students with independence, allowing them to move about the room to find a place that is best for them to work at! Not all students are comfortable sitting at tables all day long, so I like to provide them with as many comfortable alternatives as possible. This bench will allow 2-3 children to sit comfortably by our windows while they learn each day!
