My Students

My English class is typical. We read, we write, and we learn. However, there are many things that my students need to learn this school year.

My students are from low-income families and about 90% qualify for the free lunch program.

Some of them live with grandparents or are in foster homes. That's why I want them to succeed in school. This will lead to them going to college, which in turn will lead to them finding jobs and becoming successful adults.

My Project

I would like to create a listening center in the class so we need a table for the CD player and headphones. The students can also lay their books on the table and write notes. We need comfortable chairs so that we can concentrate on the reading.

A listening center is essential in an English classroom with students who are at different levels and exiles.

I can group students and have them work together at this center. They can sit comfortably and have enough room to work together. It would be a quiet area for them to read and learn in.
