My Students

We are a combined kindergarten/ first grade class in a small rural town in Oregon. Our small K-8 school is nestled between forested hills and a lake. We love incorporating our rich natural environment into our learning through science and gardening.

In our K/1 classroom, we strive to develop our character full of integrity, love, and bravery, and fortitude.

We care about being proactive citizens and love learning about the world we live in. We work hard and we also celebrate our achievements hard!

My Project

In our combined K/1 classroom, we fit in a lot of learning, and grade-level groups have to transition from independent and group work at their desks to whole group work on the carpet multiple times throughout the day. When they transition, they have to quickly grab specific classwork or notebooks from their seat back organizer. Unfortunately, many students have seat sacks that are ripped and held together with staples. Every day, we have students whose belongings are dumped on the ground when the staples give out on their seat sacks. New seat sacks would help our class become more organized and efficient, giving us more time to learn.
