I have a creative group of students. These students have a desire to learn. They love activities and projects. These truly engage them. They strive to do well in school. Many of them have outside jobs and participate in extracurricular activities. Most of the students plan on going to college.
Some of the students will be first in their family to attend college.
Daily, they work on skills that will help them succeed in school and in life. They know they have the community behind them. When they are not working hard in school, they are working in their community. Many even work after school jobs to support their family and community. The school is behind them and is willing to do all that is needed to help them complete their dreams.
My Project
My students love Sherlock Holmes. We complete a whole unit on Sherlock Holmes. We could really use a classroom set of The Hound of Baskervilles to read and discuss. The students will compare the novel to A Study in Scarlet. They will carry out online discussions. We will use the laminating sheets to laminate discussion cards, and the folders will be used to build case files along with the colored pens. This Sherlock unit really allows the students to see how a story can be interpreted into many different stories. The students also take note of how society influences a story.
