Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach in a high needs public school with limited resources. Most of the students in my school come from low-income families and are faced with many challenges in their lives. Yet they come to school ready to learn and absorb new knowledge.
School is a place where they can experience the world around them through engaging lessons, collaborative projects, and a caring community.
My students are very eager and active students who are full of energy. They need all the support and encouragement the school community can provide.
My Project
Now more than ever my students need engaging lessons that motivate them to learn. Distance learning is not easy! Unfortunately, my students face many challenges on a daily basis. That is why I plan to integrate sculpting into our lessons.
I hope to inspire the artists in my Zoom classroom to create magnificent works of art through sculpting!
We will learn about sculpting as an artform while observing sculptures via images and videos. We will make connections to our science unit and create animal sculptures! We are currently learning about animals and my students are excited and eager to learn more.
