Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a special education teacher with students that have various learning needs. My students are creative, smart, curious, and fun-loving kids. My students come from diverse backgrounds, low-income households and have not had much experience with the world outside their urban community. They provide a special combination of linguistic diversity to my class. My school is a Title I school in a low-income community. Free breakfast and free lunch are offered to every child in our building every single day.

My Project

Keeping students engaged and learning throughout the year is important to keep their minds sharp. I want to be able to provide my students with the materials necessary for them to further their art, creativity, social-emotional, and reading skills with these fun and engaging art activities and books.

My students would benefit greatly from these gentle stories that show how small acts of kindness can help anyone feel included and allow them to see how wonderful they truly are!

This project will provide my students with Diane Alber Inspires to Create book series and art activities to teach and enable them to create amazing art. They will be able to learn different emotions as well as associate colors with feelings in a fun creative way. The Scribble books teach how to accept others for who they are and what they make, which enables them to create amazing art.

These books not only have illustrations that any child can personally recognize, but it also addresses inclusion without boundaries so that every child can relate to it. Tile origami and painting kits will not only encourage, but challenge their imagination by having them create their own work of art. Thank you for considering helping my classroom and our school.
