Screenwise Students are Successful and Safe

Help me give my students books to learn about internet safety, coding, and technology issues as well as a stamp pad to use as an incentive to keep record of my students' success.

My Students

I teach first through fifth grade students computer enrichment. My students come from a low socio-economic area.

My students are so excited to learn about technology, but rarely get the opportunity to get on a computer outside of my classroom.

Many of my students do not have a computer at home or internet capability.

My students come from a variety of cultures and ability levels. Many of the classes I teach have "push in" students with physical and mental disabilities.

My Project

These books will allow my students to learn about internet safety, computer coding, cyber-bullying, and keyboarding in a fun way. Reading aloud these books will be a great springboard for classroom discussions.

I will open up class by reading a short story and then having a short discussion about the topic featured and what they learned from the book.

Introducing these various issues to students in the form of a book makes it more exciting and students are able to relate easier to the content.

Students in today's technological world need to be advised about online safety issues to stay protected. Making students aware of cyber-bullying will hopefully prevent problems that can arise from becoming a bully or being the victim of bullying. Students will be educated about computer coding and keyboarding. Reading these books will open up doors to great discussions in my classroom.
