This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. I am looking to provide my students with a creative and meaningful art experience. I know the adversity my students face because I faced some of the same problems when I was younger. And if they can come to my class and forget about all the problems for just a little while, then I know I'm doing something right.

My Project

The materials that I chose for my students is a screen printing kit that will allow them to design a logo, that they will all vote on, to create on either a t-shirt or bag. This item will be used over and over again each year for my students a final project.

Most of my students don't understand the process that goes into designing a t-shirt or even the fact that there are certain way those designs get on to the shirt.

I am wanting to show them the other side of art that is out there with not only t-shirts but printmaking in general.
