I teach in a district with students that come from a variety of walks of life. As we are located near a U.S. Air Force base, many of the families the district serves are from military backgrounds. With that being said, the students I teach are about as unique as they come! They are funny, hard-working, and each have their own distinct personality.
My students are eager to make their classroom a comfortable environment where they can all show what they know, and learn as much as possible.
Student movement is fairly constant in the classroom. Metal legs of chairs scratching and dragging across tile floors is also constant. The sound distracts even the most focused students, and even disrupts other classes in the hallway.
The tennis balls will be used to create "chair socks" or "chair shoes" that will help alleviate the dragging sound make when a student moves their chair across the floor.
The tennis balls will provide an opportunity to help manage unnecessary distractions and to make transitions smoother. The students will appreciate the lack of noise, and the custodians will appreciate the lack of scratches and scuffs on the floors!
