Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are truly exceptional! They work hard to succeed. They persevere when faced with a challenge, creatively inspire our community, and believe in one another. They are tomorrow's leaders and world-changers. They are our future and together we can help them reach their dreams. More than 97% of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch. They come to a low-income Title I school every day where resources are very limited. Some of our students are unable to purchase supplies and the school is only able to do so much with the budget they have. Our students strive to do their best!
My students are energetic, smart, and motivated to succeed.
Even though they come from a variety of backgrounds, including race, religion and family structure, we all work together to create a unique learning experience, instilling a love of learning and exploring that will last a lifetime. Many of our parents work multiple jobs and are unable to attend school events, therefore parents are missing out of their student’s success.
My Project
My students are proud and want to show off their success to their parents and friends. By making a scrapbook, my students will be able to have their memories available to them whenever they want to see them. Students are very proud of what they are doing in school. From academics to service projects, such as gardening, recycling, and painting murals around the school. Now is the time for my students to shine and show the positive impact they have on a community by coming together. I want my students to be able to showcase these scrapbooks to their parents and visitors that come to our school. The items requested will give my students voice in sharing what they are most proud of and shine!
The 4x6 photo paper will be great to have because then I can print the pictures in my classroom instead of always having to go somewhere to get them printed.
The camera, ink, photopaper, and Doodlebug paper will give students lasting memories for their scrapbook. The caption stickers will allow students to write captions of how they were feeling at the time the photo was taken which makes this even more memorable. The digital camera give students the flexibility to choose the photos they would like. The students will be the ones to construct the books along with comments utilizing the speech bubble sets. This is their education and we as educators are facilitating it. I am trying to empower all my students to step out of their box and shine.
