Scrapbooking in Spanish: Create Memories the Ancient Way
My students need scrap-booking supplies (paper edgers scissors, ribbon, origami paper, and yarn) to tell their story in Spanish. They begin with oversize lunch bags and their own photos and their imagination takes over.
In a world where technology rules, even the older students love to get their hands wet the old fashioned world of cut and paste. As a close to a review of Sp. I, my 2nd yr. Spanish students will create a scrapbook that shows and describes photos of themselves & others; in different situations.
My students are 2nd year HS Spanish students.
They range from freshmen to juniors and I can have the occasional senior, and they love to talk about themselves...IN ANY LANGUAGE...Many of the students that are in the class will move on in our IB and AP language program, but most are there as we are a small school and lack elective options. Therefore, It is absolutely rewarding to watch the students as they delight in their final product - The Scrapbook! - Completed in Spanish - An accomplishment and memory that they can take with them!
My Project
This project gives the students the opportunity to get their creative juices flowing and brag brag brag...about themselves, their friends and their family!...and they do it all in SPANISH! In order to accomplish this, the students will need scrapbooking supplies; paper, paper cutters, ribbon, yarn, and brown paper bags - to be used as the scrapbooks themselves...
Students can be bored with the constant push of technology today.
Sometimes, they need the time to slow down and go back to the basics; even the creative basics. Once they complete the review of the grammar basics - the students create a scrapbook "Asi, me Gusta el Tiempo". They capture the activities they, family and friends do during different weather conditions; incorporating pictures and other mementos. The opportunity to show off their knowledge in a personal scrapbook is a treasure.
