My Students
I've been working at my school for 17 years and my students are the reason why I continue. I know they're going to have to work for everything in their future and they motivate me to work even harder to help them succeed. They are so giving even though they might not have anything to give. Therefore, I give everything I have.
Their potential is limitless unless the classroom limits them.
As their teacher, I want to provide them with endless opportunities. My students love to learn with hands-on materials and read stories that are new and exciting. My students each have a Chromebook to use at school and I love integrating technology into as many things as possible.
My Project
Students at my school LOVE to play soccer. Every day at recess a large group of students crowd around a metal backstop to play soccer. Space isn't the problem, it's the soccer goal. All of the students shoot their balls into this backstop. They try very hard to follow the rules of the game but putting two different goalies behind one "goal" makes it extremely difficult. This backstop also takes up the corner of the field, whereas they could be using the whole field to play.
Although this project doesn't help my students learn inside the classroom, it will stretch well beyond any algorithm that I can teach them.
First, they work so hard while they're in the classroom. Outdoor play helps to refresh them for an afternoon of continued learning. Students learn valuable lessons while they play team sports. They learn how to follow the rules, teamwork, and become achievement oriented.
Youth sports are more than just learning how to shoot a goal. Please help me bring real soccer goals to the fields of my school!
