This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are all in a MD/Autistic Unit. They have multiple disabilities. We have special needs such as Downs Syndrome, Autism, and multiple learning disabilities. We have a small classroom, and some students are noise sensitive and not able to eat in the cafetera. Our students have special sensory needs.
Although there are many different personal needs in our class we are a one big happy family.
My class is diverse; they love learning, field trips, and cooking every other Friday. We are in an all-city school which means we can have students from all over the city of Cleveland. Our school is located in the heart of Tremont, a very unique area. We are in the process of becoming an accredited Montessori School.
My Project
My students need frequent breaks in the classroom and these snacks will help them stay focused and be able to regroup after a long morning. Our lunch has been switched from being an hour later than last year. This process makes it longer before we go to lunch. Our school was suppose to provide snacks, but so far they have not. 100% of our students qualify for free lunch, and our parents can not provide snacks on a regular basis. My class is a group with Autism and multiple disabilities. We would greatly appreciate these snacks as it will help with their focus and day to day schedule. Thank you!
