My students need the scooters to play a variety of new games. Such as "Ant Hospital" where they learn about teamwork and how everyone's job is important to be successful.
My classroom is know for adventure and games that engage kids to be physically active. The students I teach come from low income family's and sometimes don't have the basic necessity's to start the school year. So when school starts we do all that we can to help provide school supplies, food, clothes and more for these kids. We want our school to be the place they feel the safest and most secure in life. I believe we are accomplishing this by the way our kids act when they get to school in the morning.
When kids walk though the door of our school they turn into a wonderful ball of energy eager to learn and experience new things.
They have so much energy that as their Physical Education teacher it is my job to find ways to have them learn while being physically active.
My Project
Our school has been devastated by hurricane Harvey and with it has taken most of our P.E. equipment. We are looking to replace the equipment that was lost and spark the excitement in every child that walks into the gym. With your help I will be able to uses these scooters to help engage my students to stay physically active. The scooters will be used all year around for a number of different games such as: Ant Hospital, Reindeer Races, Trick or Treat and much more!
With the scooters my students will develop a vocabulary for movement and apply concepts dealing with space and body awareness.
They also develop a positive self-management and social skills needed to work independently and with others in physical activity setting.
