My students need a lab cart to store our science supplies safely. STEMscopes has supplies us with supplies but we a place to set up and store daily activities so we are prepared daily.
I teach in a small rural district of 500 people. We take free transfer students and offer an after school program, which has allowed us to exist. Most of our student come from the surrounding communities. Parents discover quickly how fortunate their child is to be learning in such a nurturing environment pre-k through 6th grade. We have an amazing music teacher who has student playing instruments by 5th grade. The PE program is the best I’ve seen in my 30 years of teaching. Every year we have a bike unit and ride with students around the community the last day. Each child receives a bike helmet unless they got one the year before. However, technology is our weakness. We have 2 iPads and two computers the students can use in our classroom. I would love to have 10 iPads so our students could pair up and do STEM projects. We’ve adopted a StemScope science curriculum and it offers online labs that students can do independently. Also Seesaw is an app the allows students to keep a running portfolio of their work and allow them to share online with parents. Most families have iPhones to allow them easy access.
My Project
Science is a hands-on curriculum and investigations are on going. Organization and supplies readily available make for a smooth lesson and stream motivation to the students. Engaging students with a lab cart fully supplied and prepared ahead of time stimulates young minds to gear up for science investigations that inspire them to learn about the world we live in and our universe! Thank you ahead of time for supporting STEMscopes!!! The students actually help set up the various stations and take ownership of the lab and how to safely organize daily activities. Lab coats will be my next endeavor! Science Rocks!!
