Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students all come from low-income households and school is their place to interact with others their age. It is also where they get to engage with other adults since most have families where their parents are working almost all day. Our school is small and resources for our students are not easily accessible. But despite that, our preschoolers are always eager to learn and come to school. We allow them to become who they want to become as they begin their journey to kindergarten and towards their future.
Although funds at our school are not usually available or are very scarce, we do the best that we can with what we have and our children are always eager and excited to be at school.
We are like their second family and there is nothing better than seeing my children's smiling faces when they enter my classroom.
My Project
These science materials will help current and future students acquire a love for science! Our current science center lacks materials that would aide in my children's learning of the sciences. When we go outside to play or on walks, my children are always curious about the insects they see but we don't have any that we could actually observe in our classroom and the set we are requesting would help with that. The balance scale along with the rocks and shells will help children learn about the environmental and physics part of science.
Science is so important in not only children's learning but also in their everyday life!
These items will help brighten our science center and peak children's curiosity about the sciences around them.
