My students need a rug where they can gather for introductions to new science content, directions to assignments, discussions about labs, and science book read-alouds.

My Students

My students are the most amazing young scientists I have the pleasure of teaching. Even though the majority of them come from homes that do not speak English as a first language, the students I work with are always curious, excited about learning, and ready to explore any and all science concepts. Our school has grades PreK-8th, and I am able to work with over 350 of these creative minds from PreK through 4th grade. I want to give them many opportunities to ask questions and discover answers for themselves in our science lab!

My Project

Teaching young students is such an amazing experience. They take in information like sponges and have an endless amount of questions. However, it has become quite difficult in my classroom to have these young children focus their attention when they are scattered around the classroom at big tables. I always walk around to ensure students can hear me and are able to see things and materials I want to show them, but that has become very time-consuming to do so. Having a carpet as a gathering area for students for introductions, directions, discussions and read-alouds will be very beneficial to my students.
