My students need these items to ensure their learning experiences continue to be rich moving into the second semester. WE need gloves, paper, wipes and more.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our school has absolutely no enrichment funds for students and as a first year teacher I have absolutely no interactive material. Ours is a predominantly African American school, which caters to a range of educational levels and socioeconomic statuses.
The students at this school are absolutely incredible, excited, motivated, inspirational, and have an incredible curiosity for the human body and other biological systems; however, what these students don't have is the resources needed to push their educational experience in the classroom.
Our students come from communities where education is not a priority, but rather looked at as a hoop they must jump through. My goal is to change their perspective.
My Project
This order includes many different things, in general, these items will be used throughout the second semester to ensure my students have the educational opportunities they deserve. As many of you are aware, things tend to disappear throughout the school year and it's time to restock!
Two of these line items are directly related to lab activities, and the rest is supplies the students will utilize throughout the remainder of the school year.
The first lab will be a genetics one in which the students will learn to blood type themselves, the second will be a evolution lab in which the students learn about how the eye ball evolved over time! What's better than learning about our eye ball, then dissecting one up close? Answer: NOTHING!
I love having my students create posters to represent the information they have learned during the class period, and the chart paper will allow them to do so, and present their findings to the class. The rest of the materials will be used throughout the remainder of the year and into the new year to promote student involvement, interaction, and collaboration. Specifically, the chart paper and chart paper markers will be used to create posters and study materials for the students. The colored pencils and legal paper will be utilized for student art projects, the gloves used for dissections, and the disinfecting wipes utilized for cleaning up the mess! Finally, the dry erase markers to ensure my class has enough to last until the end of the year! Thank you!
