Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students at my elementary are at the heart of what we do! Konnoak is a Title I school with every student receiving free breakfast and lunch. Many of the students come from different socioeconomic backgrounds. Our students have many struggles, but as a teachers, we want to change their lives for the better. Taking the time to donate to this cause will help student succeed, and become lifelong learners. All of these wonderful students deserve the best education possible!
My Project
At my elementary, we are a magnet school who basis its learning stems from science and mathematics. Science is often a subject that is "overlooked" or not given enough instructional time during the day. Science give students a chance to explore and become engaged in the topic they are studying.
In third grade we focus on the following topics: Matter, Forces, and Motion, The Human Body, Life Cycles, and Earth in the Universe.
This class library set will allow my students to read non-fiction text in a small group setting. The science folder games will be a pivotal part of workshop groups during our science block. However, I want to connect science as much as possible to other core subjects. These materials will be used throughout the year and will enhance literature and mathematical lessons!
