Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have 20 wonderful smiling, friendly faces greet me every day! My students are hungry for knowledge, and they are very eager to learn. I teach for the largest school district in Oklahoma.
My school is high-poverty and 100% of our students receive free lunch and breakfast.
My students love to talk, share, and are very social. They like to learn in a way that is meaningful and fun for them. The majority of my students are English Language Learners and have never had a positive interaction with reading. Despite the poverty, they work hard and are constantly trying to learn more and more. They are great and always appreciate anything that is given to them to help them learn.
My Project
I am requesting multiple science learning resources to help us have a more about all things science. I am trying to implement a more open science center where my students will be able to brainstorm and makes mistakes in order to figure out how things work. I want them to explore, touch, feel, smell and see what is around them and how it works. I am requesting magnetic tools to help them figure out what things are magnetic and why.
An equipped science center is such an important place that I know will help my students explore their learning curiosity in a meaningful and fun way.
New tools for our light table will help expand and create questions about X-rays and our bodies. The Scoop-A-Bug Sorting Kit will help my kids get a close look to other insects in our playground while also keeping those insects safe from little curious fingers.
Please consider helping us provide rocks, minerals and other science tools to help expand my students science curiosity.
