Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach physics, biology, chemistry, earth science, Advanced Placement, and International Baccalaureate Physics. The students all love applied science and hands-on activities. I teach two sections of 7th grade Integrated Science, one section of Physics, one section of Earth Science and International Baccalaureate Physics with a total of 175 students. My school is located in an urban area and has 2,900 students in it. Our school is the oldest one in the city.

My students are a diverse mix of low and high-income urban students.

They represent many ethnic and racial groups. I also teach a wide array of classes.

My Project

My classroom needs constant replenishing of supplies to help me teach various lessons. This past year, laptops have become required, and I'm running electrical lines all over the place. I'd like to use the extensions and covers for safety and efficiency in my class. I'd like to also buy a better webcam for zoom lessons when we meet virtually with guest speakers and future online work.

In addition, I have purchased spectroscopes so that all my students can use them at the same time, and additional scales, string and wire to support my existing hands-on labs.
