My Students

My students are high achieving, highly motivated learners. They specifically enjoy hands-on activities, learning on the computer and setting and achieving goals.

Our school is a rural, Title I school, with many English Language Learners.

We keep and maintain a school garden in first grade as a Science project. We value our books for learning reading skills and to solidify their learning. Using math manipulatives is important for my students in order to make learning math concepts concrete and meaningful.

My Project

Having a mobile center to store our science books and being able to locate it at different stations in the room will facilitate small group learning. This will also give students a sense of independence when selecting materials for science projects. It will also help them organize and learn to sort, categorize and put away their materials on their own.

My students will learn to file by color then learn to file by genres and subjects in science.

They will learn to sort fiction and nonfiction books and take control of their own learning. They will become little librarians quickly.
