I have curious, energetic, creative, inspiring, and eager-to-learn kindergarten students in my classroom each year. I lead an organized, focused and differentiated learning environment with access to materials that address each need among various subject disciplines.
At the end of each year, and continuously throughout their educational journey, I want my students to be confident learners, seekers of knowledge and great citizens for our school, their families and the community around us.
I work diligently for each student to be challenged daily and be the best that they can be, where he or she is at, in their kindergarten journey and beyond.
I have 19 full-time kindergarten students and 2 additional developmental students that "push-in" for fifty percent of the day in the school year 2019-2020.
They all arrive with a variety of interests, talents, backgrounds and specific emotional and physical needs. All my students need fluid transitions, a prepared, print-rich, and organized environment, sensory breaks and consistent encouragement to keep them focused and ready for each task ahead. My school is an amazing family of strong leaders and teachers, support staff, parents, and community members.
My Project
I love to have the students in collaborative groups as they share ideas, coach each other and interact with a hands-on tools that increase conversation and student success. These sorting kids will allow for 4 groups to complete a similar activity and then be able to go on a "Gallery Walk" to see what other teams decided as they sort science cards. I love how these are aligned with our state standards and Beyond Textbooks goals.
These kits are such a perfect resource for meaningful introductions or final assessments in various science topics that we learn about in the world of kindergarten.
I love the pictures on the cards to spark interest and background knowledge. I know that these sorting cards will increase engagement and secure the knowledge needed to grasp higher order concepts for upper elementary.
