This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I am a first year teacher and absolutely love teaching Science. My students are very creative, thoughtful and are never at a loss for questions! My students love to do hands-on activities that keep them excited about learning, while also challenging them to dig deeper to find out the how, when, and why of a scientific topic. My students light up on lab day and love to get their hands dirty on projects. I have students that look forward to learning how to solve both simple and complex scientific questions. My students deserve the best and that’s what I strive to give them everyday. I just want to continue to inspire them as they inspire me, while we continue exploring the world of Science.

My Project

If it’s one thing I’ve learned during my first year it’s that children really want to learn. When I asked my students what was the one thing that could make their learning experience better, they all agreed that they would love to have more labs and projects. I believe having a dedicated Science Center, within the classroom, will make the learning experience better for my students. Being able to have visual aids for Science that show the inner workings of the human body system and a fully functional STEM kit, will help my students by allowing them to use practical application of what they are learning in the classroom. I know this will help them grow academically and increase their desire to want to pursue Science in middle and high school.
