Science + Reading = 2nd Grade Fun! STEM Workbooks Needed!

Help me give my students Scholastic Science workbooks to increase their comprehension and content knowledge in both science and language arts.

My Project

I plan to use the Scholastic Science Reader workbooks with my class in many ways. Students will be using these workbooks to build on many different Science and literacy skills. The workbooks will be used with small and whole group lessons, as well as for homework. I believe these are valuable resources because they serve many purposes. In addition, I love how it can help me incorporate Science topics into my ELA lessons. I love it when lessons can be cross-curricular! The workbooks will help my students become more well-rounded, informed individuals. These items from Scholastic can also easily be used with other lessons and assignments. What a great resource to have as a teacher! Parents will appreciate something for kids to use at home at this time also.

In second grade, students need to spend more time reading non-fiction and learning how to read different genres.

Scholastic Science Reader Workbooks will help them to experience a different type of writing where they can examine text features, and spark curiosity in new areas they might never have thought of before. Topics can range from environmental science to life sciences. It's safe to say that my students will learn so much from these resources. My favorite topics covered in these materials are in the area of environmental science. The kids love learning about weather, ecosystems, the water cycle, habitats, and many similar topics. For many of my students who might never get to travel and see beyond the neighborhood or town they grew up in, these two resources can help them better understand the world around them.
