My Students

I have 40 students willing to spend 12 hours on a Saturday competing in Science Olympiad events. What I don't have is enough supplies for them to be well prepared.

My students attend a small, rural, high poverty school.

But that does not stop them from aiming high and dreaming big. This year, we have about 40 students dedicated to competing in the state Science Olympiad competition against much more affluent schools. And they want to WIN!

My Project

With these field guides and forensics kits, my students will be able to study, practice, and prepare for the competition like they have never been able to do before. Many of these students are returning to the team for a second, third, or fourth year. They are discouraged because they know that they are capable of winning, but are at a real disadvantage due to lack of money and resources. I know that these resources will help my students be confident that they can indeed compete with the other, more affluent schools across our state.

Science Olympiad is not a required part of my curriculum.

However, it is a fantastic way for my students to apply what they know about science in a fun, hands-on competition. The enthusiasm of my students is contagious - please help inspire their love of science!
