My Project

As we learn best practices for teaching young learners to read it becomes increasingly clear that we must follow the science of reading, which is largely based on phonics. As a first-grade teacher my goal is to create strong, enthusiastic readers. Each student enters my classroom at a different stage in their reading development requiring an individualized approach to instruction.

Reading is complicated and complex requiring many parts of our brain and strong teaching practices to support stage.

It is my goal to provide this instruction in a small-group setting that is capable of supporting each stage of reading development.

These science of reading tools requested here will help support my students as they progress through the stages at their own developmentally appropriate speed. They will create hands-on learning that will be impactful to each student at all reading levels.
