I need some professional development to improve my ability to support and guide teachers in providing high quality, differentiated instruction for our students.
My job as an instructional coach is to help developing students achieve their highest level of academic and behavioral success through targeted interventions that meet their individual needs.
I also work hard to provide leadership and expertise to improve student performance by increasing the capacity of classroom teachers to provide high quality, differentiated instruction.
My Project
This year I took on a new position as an Instructional Coach at a school where 75% of our population have IEPs and 504s. This role wears many hats and in order to be the best I can be in service of our students, I want to better educate myself on best practices in research-based strategies rooted in cognitive neuroscience. My goal is to increase my understanding of the science and research on how to teach and learn.
I have noticed learning roadblocks in multiple grade levels and I need to learn how to combat those issues using these books.
I will apply this new knowledge to guide teachers in selecting strategies to improve their teaching, provide professional development for teachers as well as using learned strategies in my co-teaching.
