My students are awesome and a joy to teach. They are excited to learn most days. They enjoy science because typically we get to have more hands-on activities than other classes.
When they come to school, they are excited to tell me anything they can, to be able to engage in conversations.

Most of our students are low income. Often times when they come to school, it is a great escape for them to just be kids. They love to learn, and get excited when they learn something and can tell someone else about it.
My Project
These materials will help students learn not only science standards but also improve their reading skills. They will be able to enjoy articles in the Science World magazines, that interest them, while also learning to summarize what they read. Students have difficulty with reading comprehension, this should help bridge the gap.
I want students to realize reading can be entertaining and engaging.

Reading is such a basic concept but many struggle with the comprehension aspect. I teach science, so this is a great way to help improve reading while still learning science skills.
